From Lisbon to Florence

28-06-2016

My flight from Lisbon to Florence was slightly delayed however nothing could dampen my spirits (apart from having to leave Lisbon) and it merely served to heighten my anticipation for the second leg of my European tour: Florence.

I had started the thriller novella "1000 Yards" by Mark Dawson a few days ago but I'd only read the first chapter. So this was my companion for the trip. It was an undercover mission for agent John Milton set in North Korea. An excellent read and just the right length for this 2.5 hour flight. And my accompanying music track (using offline Spotify) was the album"So Flows The Current" by Patrick O'Hearn - the laid back instrumental music by this American artist (who must have Irish connections with that name) was an ideal backdrop to the book.

I'm constantly discovering new albums on Spotify, particularly playlists and albums to compliment reading or writing.

I caught the bus from Pisa airport to Florence - a 70-minute journey through the Italian countryside with the setting sun and arrived in Florence after dark.

It will be hot tomorrow - hotter than Lisbon, which was 28c when I left, but it will be 33c here tomorrow an Italian summer in the glorious and romantic city of Florence.
