Picasso, Matisse and more

17-07-2016

I walked up to Charlottenburg this morning to see the Museum Berggreum which contains the art collection of art dealer and collector Heinz Berggreum. It’s a stunning collection of  early 20th century art, including 120 works by Pablo Picasso and also works by Henri Matisse, Paul Klee, Albrerto Giacometti, Alexander Calder, Georges Braque and Paul Cezanne. The collection is housed in a beautiful building with a central staircase and sets of rooms radiating from each level. There is a matching building across the street which houses surreal art, the Scharf Collection which I’ll visit later in the week.
