I went to the Berlinische Galerie, one of Berlin's major contemporary art galleries, yesterday afternoon. There were several exhibitions on but the most interesting were the 20th century art in the upper galleries which has mainly German artist's work (see photos), and also the main lower gallery, which had a really interesting installation by Erwin Wurm. The Austrian artist. It was a house which was only one meter wide and perhaps 25 metres tall. Inside everything was scaled to fit the width of the house. It was a surreal experience. It was laid out in linear fashion with extra narrow furniture and even an extremely narrow toilet (see photos). The rest of Edwin Waum's exhibition was interactive and can only be visualised by watching the subtitled video at the end of this post..
