I was at the Odeon Cinema in Piazza Strozzi today to see Maggie’s Plan. This cinema is one of the few old fashioned cinemas remaining in Florence located in a beautiful building which is actually a real theatre. It was such a pleasure to be in there in luxurious seats, a magnificent upper level and ceiling, cool from the 34 centigrade temperature outside and of course an interesting film to watch. It was a rom com set in New York starring Greta Gerwig, Julianne Moore and Ethan Hawke in a love triangle with a twist. It's got a mixture of a university professor's life, writing a novel, bringing up a family and romance. This is not what I would normally choose to see but as it was the only film which was not dubbed in Italian I decided to give it a try and I was very pleasantly surprised. It was very entertaining and some elements reminded me a bit of some of Woody Allen’s earlier New York based movies. I’d give it 4/5 and it’s definitely worth a look.
