I battled the rain and wind of the Irish summer today to go and visit the RHA Gallery and it was worth it as they have three exhibitions of interest:
Una Sealy, a solo exhibition (which ends on 21/8/16) portraits and landscapes (see image), an exhibition of well known Irish artists from the past and current, including Roderick O’Connor, Mary Swanzy, Paul Henry and Sean Scully. Upstairs there’s a surreal video installation by Aideen Barry: Brittlefield.
Later I walked around the People’s Art exhibition which is on Stephen’s Green three times a year. It’s always a mixed bag of chocolate box landscapes, and the occasional painting which stands out - the best were some paintings by Kevin Somers of the botanical gardens.
